The Problem

Governments and institutions still rely heavily on paper-based, costly, and inefficient communication channels that fail to reach citizens reliably—especially those in remote or underserved areas. Citizens, in turn, lack a secure, official channel for receiving verified documents and essential public information. OneBox solves this by providing a legally binding, digital alternative to physical mail, improving reach, lowering costs, and strengthening trust in public service delivery.

The Solution

OneBox is a standards based digital mailbox platform designed for government and regulated sector communications. Unlike email, SMS, or messaging apps, it ensures legally verifiable delivery in line with European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and Electronic Identification, Authentication and Trust Services (eIDAS) standards, integrates built in user authentication through OneID or national ID, and provides tamper proof messaging logs with receipt confirmation. Free from spam and third party advertising, OneBox delivers a secure and trusted channel for official communication.

How it works?

  • Step 1: Government or institution composes an official message through a secure admin portal or API.
  • Step 2: The message is digitally signed and delivered to the citizen’s personal OneBox.
  • Step 3: The citizen receives a real-time notification and accesses the content via mobile or web interface.
  • Step 4: Access is verified using national digital ID or OneID login.
  • Step 5: The system generates a verifiable receipt of delivery, creating legal traceability.
  • Step 6: Messages are stored privately and securely, with audit trails and no risk of spoofing or interception.

Bridging the digital divide

OneBox helps bridge the digital divide by making government communication accessible to all citizens. Through language localized communication, assisted onboarding, and user friendly web and mobile interfaces, it enables inclusive engagement and ensures that even underserved populations can reliably access important public information and services.

Impact and highlights

In Bahrain, OneBox has supported the digitization of official communications for critical sectors like finance and health. In early deployments, we’ve seen:

  • 98.7% successful delivery rate for government documents;
  • 60–80% reduction in operational costs compared to physical mail; and
  • Over 45% of users opened their messages within two hours, demonstrating immediate reach and trust.

Plans for expansion

As a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform already proven in Bahrain and Egypt, OneBox has a multi-year financial runway and a team capable of managing multiple concurrent national rollouts, enabling rapid scaling across new territories. Its secure, legally compliant infrastructure aligns with international standards, making it well suited for national deployments.
